End the Cycle of Procrastination Do This Instead

Lately I've been doing all sorts of planning. I want to do this, I need to have this done by this date, I should schedule that. and the list goes on and on.

Do you ever get in planning mode with no real action?

Notebook of ideas of stuff that sounds good at the time, until other things that seem to be more interesting come up. I give myself challenges and goals that I want to accomplish. I have many ideas I'd love to try.

I realized that wanting to do all the things and planning it on paper without taking action, only causes overwhelm and procrastination.

When I'm procrastinating I like to try to get out of it by watching something on You tube. It's crazy how the universe works in your favor and puts a video you really need in front of you.  I felt stuck, not motivated, decided to see what I could binge watch and there it was. Aha moment.

The moment you have an instinct to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will stop you. 5,4,3,2,1 GO! -Mel Robbins

I thought need to do this. This is going to solve all my problems. So I started doing what Mel Robbins was saying, I went on a marathon listening to many of her talks while doing the laundry, cleaning up and kept thinking task after task. 5,4,3,2,1 GO! Get stuff done without overthinking.

That day I got all sorts of stuff done, not just started but finished. I could actually write a line through the things I wrote down in my planner and it felt so good. Relief. At the end of the day my to-do lists was my done list!

Let's keep up this momentum.

The next day my alarm went off at the usual 5:30am and I immediately rolled over to press silent, then I remembered. nope  you have intentions to get up and do a workout. Instead of sleeping for 30 more minutes I got out of bed put on my sports bra, leggings and tennis shoes. Got my phone pressed the BOD app and did the workout I planned to do the night before.  Sweat dripping on my face, I felt energy, After my workout I did a mediation to center my mind.  I love sitting and stretching. I created  the intentions for the rest of my day. Things went good.

My mantra now whenever I feel that I'm starting to procrastinate is saying 5,4,3,2,1 GO! Get stuff done, you'll be happy you do.

It's the little voice inside my head I say it to myself whenever I start to second guess what I need to do. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through Instagram and going through the pinning rabbit hole, focus on what is going to to make you happy you did at the end of the day. Finally give your priorities a chance to become habits in your life. You can do it.

**You can check out the inspiring talk here, but only watch it, if you want to change your mindset and stop the endless cycle of procrastinating on your dreams. Life is too short to continue spinning your wheels and letting your to-do lists with no action get you down. Do the work and don't forget to celebrate the small wins. Try doing the 5 second rule for one day and see your life change.
